Bereavement Support Organisations

Well run bereavement support agencies ensure their volunteers are carefully selected, receive on-going training and are supervised by professionals. They are trained to provide a listening ear, to facilitate people talking about their experience and to support them in finding their way through their grief. Level 2 support

Hospices and hospitals

If you have been bereaved through a hospice death a bereavement support service may be available through the hospice. Contact the hospice if you feel you need additional support Directory of local hospice services available HERE   If  the death occured in an acute hospital bereavement support may be available. Contact the social work department of the hospital.   A volunteer-led bereavement support service is available through The Bereavement Counselling Service (tel. 01-8391766). If you are grieving the death of a child, Anam Cara provide peer support services across the country for parents and siblings.


The Samaritans, also provide a a 24-hour listening service on 1850 609090 Living links also provide support following suicide bereavement Tusla; the Child and Family Support Agency provide funding for counselling services including bereavement support.
