The Kingspan IHF Atlantic to Med Cycle Challenge 2013

Following on from the hugely successful Lyon to Nice Cycle 2012 the Irish Hospice Foundation is delighted to announce the Kingspan IHF Cycle Challenge for 2013 will be from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.

Join the Irish Hospice Foundation for the challenge of a lifetime and take on the Atlantic to Med Challenge! Travel from ocean to sea while taking on one of the greatest Tour de France climbs, the mighty Tourmalet!

Departing from Dublin on Sunday 21st July, we will fly to Bordeaux and be taken to our hotel in Biarritz by coach. The following morning we will begin the first of five days cycling through Basque style towns and villages, following along part of the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route before dipping into the Pyrenees for the brave among us. Following on from here will see the terrain loosing height and medieval towns dating back to the 14th Century like Carcassonne and will be in our sights. The route will take in sandy beaches, lush rolling hills and spellbinding images of castles and drawbridges. The Languedoc Roussillon Region of France is an unspoilt gem filled with breathtaking views of the coastline and the Pyrenees. It also has some of France’s best cuisine and a rich medieval history.
You will be cycling a total of 630km (incl. climbs)/ 560km (ex. climbs) over the five days, all the while raising vital funds for the Irish Hospice Foundation’s work to ensure that everyone in need has access to hospice care.

All fundraising goes towards the Nurses for Night Care programme

This year the proceeds of the Cycle Challenge goes towards our Nurses for Night Care Service. This service works to ensure that patients with all illnesses have appropriate access to palliative care when they need it most.
Fundraising can often be a challenging part of any fundraising event. However Amy our Events Executive is available to help you directly on how to best plan your fundraising activities. We have a whole range of ideas for cyclists who sign up and are happy to help develop your own idea where possible.

Get inspired. Get fit. Challenge yourself!
