Living with Loss
Over 250 members of the public attended a public event on ‘Living with Loss’ in the Alexandra Hotel, Dublin on November 1st. Also in attendance were representatives from 19 bereavement support organisations.
Mary O’ Rourke spoke of her personal journey through grief following the death of her husband Enda in 2001 and the double loss when her nephew, Brian Lenihan died in 2011.
Also speaking on the evening was John Lonergan, former governor of Mountjoy prison who spoke of the difficulties men can face in addressing bereavement and the importance of empathy and compassion in society. He also reminded the audience that we need not apologise for the feelings that accompany our grief.
A very big Thank You to all who attended the event, in particular those representatives from the bereavement support organisations.
