The Minister for Children & Youth Affairs, Dr. James Reilly, launched a new framework to guide bereavement support for children and young people.
The Childhood Bereavement Care Pyramid, developed by the Irish Children’s Bereavement Network (ICBN), is to be rolled out over the coming months through communities, general practices and health services around the country.
The care pyramid was unveiled at the first Irish conference on childhood bereavement in Dublin Castle on Saturday. Organised by the ICBN with the theme “Bereaved Children and young people:Understanding the frameworks of support” the conference explored various aspects including the role social networking sites play in young people’s grief.
The ICBN is funded by Tusla the Child and family Centre and by The Irish Hospice Foundation, who also host the network.
