About “The Waking Walls”

“The Waking Walls” is an audio installation event by artist Alan James Burns, in collaboration with writer Chandrika Narayanan-Mohan and NYAH.

It’s taking place at Cloughoughter Castle, an iconic national monument, in county Cavan, September 8 to 9.

Alan, a Cavan-born artist, developed this installation with an Irish Hospice Foundation Seed Grant, supported by Creative Ireland.

Through spoken work and music, the event explores themes such as climate change and biodiversity loss. Attendees can attend the event either on boats or the lakeside to absorb Cloughoughter Castle’s lament for the environmental and biodiversity losses the castle has witnessed over its lifetime.
