Niav McEvoy Pledge’s to Plant and Walk 100km for IHF

Niav McEvoy, a native of Clare but living in Wexford 21 years, became a supporter of Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF) following the death of both her mum and dad from cancer in the same year. The support offered by the hospice home care team stand as a beacon of light in an otherwise dark year for Niav and she wanted to do something to help and in memory of her parents.

As a keen gardener, adult educator, PhD scholar and busy mum of 5 Niav put her talents to work when she heard about the inaugural IHF Pledge to Plant appeal. Her greenhouse is stocked with plants grown from seed and she is getting ready to share the lilies, nasturtiums, gladioli, hollyhocks, sunflowers and more at her plant sale on 26th June.

Niav says

“Because I know from first hand experience how essential Irish Hospice Foundation is to patients and their families, I have been planting seeds with love and hope and have asked friends and family to make a donation for them. The response has been amazing!”

Not satisfied with planting, growing and selling plants for IHF in June, Niav has also signed up to IHF’s 100km in June Challenge.

Helen McVeigh, Director of Fundraising at IHF says

“We are delighted to have Niav aboard and are in awe of her enthusiasm for our work and raising funds for IHF. The fundraising that Niav is doing through Pledge to Plant and 100km June will go to directly towards our Nursing for Night Care, who provide direct home care for people at end of life.”
