Date: 17 September
Time: 10:30am-12:30pm
Venue: Grand Parade Library, Cork
They say, the best day to plant a tree was 20 years ago, but the next best day is today.
Wherever we are in the forest of our lives, today is the best day to start talking about the end. End of life and dying are not separate from life, but part of it—and by talking about it we can help to ease our fears, soothe our pain, and clear up the mysterious!
Good Day Cork and Irish Hospice Foundation held a morning of storytelling and zine making on—you guessed it!—death and dying. A courageous, creative approach to starting to talk about the end, and thinking about your own wishes for when the time comes in a small group setting.
Pride in Death – Death Cafe
Date: 16 September
Time: 10am-12:30pm
Venue: Pearse St Library, 144 Pearse Street, Dublin 2
LGBTQ, AIIHPC and IHF came together for this death cafe as part of Palliative Care Week.
Talking about these issues with our friends, partners and loved ones can be difficult, but by taking the time to have these conversations when we are at ease and are not in crisis or under pressure, we can make the final stages of life easier to live through.
Nobody should ever feel the need to hide something important about who they are. This LGBTQ+ focused death cafe invited the LGBTQ+ community and allies alike to share our experiences and discuss any and all subjects around this universal life experience.
