REDESIGNED & REFURBISHED MORTUARY OPENS AT MERCY UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

 – THE FIRST MORTUARY IN IRELAND TO BE COMPLETED UNDER THE DESIGN AND DIGNITY GRANTS SCHEME

A redesigned and refurbished mortuary has been opened in the Mercy University Hospital in Cork today (Wed, 20th March) by RTE’s Maura Derrane under a Design and Dignity Grants Scheme initiated by the Irish Hospice Foundation’s (IHF)  Hospice Friendly Hospitals Programme in partnership with the Health Service Executive (HSE).

The new facility at Cork’s acute city centre hospital is the first mortuary project to be completed under the Design and Dignity Grants Scheme and cost approximately €200,000 in total.  A grant of €126,325 was received from the Design and Dignity Grants Scheme and the balance was funded by contributions from the hospital and the Mercy University Hospital Fundraising Foundation.
