We are delighted to announce the appointment of Ms Amilah Ali and Dr Tony Holohan to our Board of Non-Executive Directors.
Amilah Amilah works in the community Welfare/Youth Department of the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland in Clonskeagh. She has a degree in biochemistry and a Masters in Biomedical Diagnostics.
In previous roles, Amilah has trained as a care assistant in Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross and worked as a carer in nursing homes. Her current role brings a unique set of skills together as she supports families and loved ones through the rituals of dying, death and bereavement in an inter-cultural Irish-Islamic world.
In taking up her role Amilah has said:
“I am passionate about helping and supporting people through dying, death and bereavement. I am delighted to be joining Irish Hospice Foundation Board to bring my experiences to other uses, in particular the diversity of cultures and how they are represented in Ireland today.”
Dr Tony Holohan, up to July 2022, worked in the Department of Health as Deputy Chief Medical Officer and then Chief Medical Officer for over 20 years. In his roles there he supported the Irish government to deliver quality public healthcare including the development of policy for public health, patient safety and quality. Dr Holohan said:
“I am honoured to take up the role on Irish Hospice Foundation Board. This is an important time for the foundation and the healthcare sectors that they operate in. I’m looking forward to helping shape what IHF do to support those in end-of-life and bereavement care.”
