Lunch & Learn (Bereavement Series): Standards for Supporting Bereaved Children & Young People

The ‘Standards for Supporting Bereaved Children and Young People – A Framework for Development’ 2023, illustrate a way forward in the promotion of the child or young person’s voice in Irish society, in order that their needs may be appropriately recognised and supported when they are bereaved. We use the language of standards to illustrate a multi-layered vision for bereavement support to emphasise the highest level of care that our bereaved children and young people deserve.

Volunteers can encounter and experience grief as part of their work, arising from their role caring for others. This is referred to as “Professional Grief.”

Lunch & Learn - Grief in the Workplace: An Overview

An image promoting Irish Hospice Foundation's National Grief Awareness Week 2024 event called "Grief in the Workplace: An Overview", taking place on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

This is a free online webinar for employees and employers. Many people will be working at the time they experience a bereavement or a significant life loss and require a compassionate and caring response. Having an understanding of grief will help employees understand their own grieving experience but also be more aware of how to support others when grieving.

This event is part of Irish Hospice Foundation’s National Grief Awareness Week campaign and is kindly supported by Fanagans.

Supporting Bereaved Children: An Open Evening for Parents & Carers

This session is aimed at parents and family members supporting children who are experiencing grief to acknowledge that conversations with children about death and dying are hard. Sometimes we need guidance and support to deal with the feeling and emotions that arise.

There will be an opportunity for questions to be submitted anonymously – in advance to [email protected]. We will do our best to address the questions over the course of the presentations.

Session Facilitated by Brid Carroll (chair of ICBN) and Maura Keating (National Co-ordinator ICBN).

Once you register for this event, you will be sent the Zoom details a few days in advance of the webinar through Eventbrite.
