by Mya Clarke and Talitha Brauer
Marian (Mya) Clarke and Talitha Brauer wanted to lead an exploration of experiences of loss, grief, and resilience among two hidden communities in Ireland – five female refugees from Afghanistan and five women living in Ireland with chronic pain. The aim was to explore the women’s mutual experiences through workshops involving photography, drawing, and poetry.
Six workshops were held in March 2022 at the IADT in Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin. In preparation, Mya and Talitha connected with Sayed Yousif Al-Muhafdha of Front Line Defenders who attended and translated for the Afghani participants.
Mya and Talitha are a credible and qualified team. Mya lives with chronic pain and has an MSc in Bereavement. Talitha is an experienced photographer, film maker, and founder of Brother’s Keeper International.
