We often hear people responding to difficult news with “I was at a loss for words”.

Sometimes there are none.

Sometimes we just have to sit.

Other times we seek them out. We want someone who bore witness to what we now feel. We want some words that might make it make sense.

Or we stumble across them. A random lyric is a key to turn the day around. Overheard sentences snap everything back into focus. A paragraph or poem appearing in a book or social media is a revelation.

IHF is working with Poetry Ireland and Gill Books to find all the words we need
