Children – Night Nursing
Our Nurses for Night Care service was developed in order to provide free night nursing for people dying at home from conditions other than cancer.
We receive no state funding and this service is entirely funded through charitable means.
Cancer patients had long had access to such a service, provided by the Irish Cancer Society (ICS), and in 2006, with IHF funding, the ICS agreed to extend this service to people with other end-stage illnesses also, accepting referrals from the IHF on a case-by-case basis, and on condition that the patient is under the care of a hospice/palliative care team.
This service is provided to both adults and children. For children the majority of life limiting illness are non-cancer
