It’s that time of year again. You are planning ahead, vowing to lose the weight, get fitter, setting SMART goals in many areas of your life.
There is one thing that you may not have thought about – because, mostly, here in Ireland, we don’t like to. And that is planning for what happens after you die or when, for some reason, you are no longer in a position to make or describe your plans for the future.
That’s why, with financial support from the Community Foundation for Ireland , and in association with the Irish Hospice Foundation, Clare Older People’s Council will run and host a series of seminars over the next five months, called “Putting the House in Order.”
Starting on Wednesday 23 January in Ennis, the series will include a presentation on ‘Enduring Power of Attorney’ by local solicitor Sharon Cahir, and a presentation by Rebecca Lloyd of the Irish Hospice Foundation on planning ahead so that those closest to you will know and understand what your wishes are. The workshop will enable participants to think about and discuss what would be important to them should they become ill, incapacitated or experience a medical emergency.
Please note that this is primarily an information and planning session; it is not about bereavement or bereavement counseling.
The first seminar in the series will take place in the Butter market, Drumbiggle Road, on Wednesday January 23rd from 11.a.m. -2.30 p.m before moving around to different locations across Clare.
