EDUCATION SUPPORT LIBRARIAN (PART-TIME)

Job Description: EDUCATION SUPPORT LIBRARIAN (PART-TIME) (Fixed term contract,  6 months)

Reports to: Head of Education & Bereavement

Overall Job Purpose

Each year three cohorts of postgraduate students study at the IHF with over 60 students at any one time.  All postgraduate bereavement programmes are programmes of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in association with the IHF. The MSc Loss & Bereavement recruits each year and is a part time programme over two years.  The Professional Certificate Children & Loss is a two module part-time programme. The Irish Hospice Foundation is seeking a librarian who will oversee library services and provide education/ literacy support for students.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage the library’s physical and electronic resources, acquiring new sources and stock relative to need
  • Provide information literacy training and evidence-gathering support to postgraduate students (and IHF staff as required)
  • Provide information and library services according to best practice and underpinned by relevant standards and policies; and
  • Perform any other duties consistent with the position as may arise from time to time.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Postgraduate qualification in library studies;
  • Experience in an academic/ student support environment;
  • Experience and proficiency in library management systems;
  • Experience with literature searching/writing reviews;
  • Some experience of academic writing;
  • Experience using database management systems;
  • Experience using reference management systems such as EndNote or Zotero;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • An interest in the subject areas of loss, dying and bereavement; and
  • A flexible outlook
Desirable
  • Membership of the Library Association of Ireland

The Irish Hospice Foundation, Morrison Chambers, 32 Nassau Street, Dublin 2

SALARY

Salary commensurate with experience will be in the range of 33 to 37k (pro-rata)
