Will you support grieving parents?

In April 2017, Rosabel Monroe died in her cot at her Galway home. She was just 16 months old.

Following her sudden and unexpected death, her parents, Suzanne McClean and Gary Monroe, began their collaboration with us here at Irish Hospice Foundation to establish Rosabel’s Rooms. It was launched on the 5th of January 2018, on what would have been Rosabel’s 2nd birthday.

As parents who have faced the pain of child loss, Suzanne and Gary knew the kind of supports other parents may need:

  • Direct financial support to help with funeral costs, a headstone or to cover time off work by one or both parents.
  • Funding for counselling and therapeutic support for parents and siblings.
  • Care and support in the community for families and children facing end of life and bereavement.

Today, Irish Hospice Foundation, through community programmes and Rosabel’s Rooms, provides these for families all over Ireland. Whilst Rosabel’s legacy lives on, we are reliant on voluntary funds to ensure we continue to reach those who need our help.
