Next week is National Carers Week 2022, taking place from Monday the 13th to Sunday the 19th of June. Carers Week is all about highlighting and supporting the work that family carers do.
This year’s theme is ‘Making Caring Visible’. Care Alliance Ireland (CAI) coordinate National Carers Week and, alongside Carers Week partners, have organised a variety of events designed to inform, support and celebrate family carers throughout Ireland and highlight the incredible and challenging work they do on a daily basis.
Over 80 events lined up at venues across the country and online including: quizzes, information sessions, sibling workshops, lunches, walks, crafty carers virtual get together, tea dances, virtual yoga, virtual belly-dancing, mindfulness sessions, poetry readings and giveaways for hundreds of family carers.
A sample of events includes: a mindfulness session with Susan Barrett on Monday 13th; a music workshop with Ciara McGarrigle on Wednesday 15th; Chair Yoga with Sofia Pollaro on Thursday 16th; a Support Group and raffle on Thursday 16th and a Coffee Morning of Poetry and Prose on Friday 17th. Other CAI partners are Acquired Brain Injury Ireland, Irish Cancer Society, St. Michael’s House, MS Ireland, DFI, Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland, CRC, Jack and Jill and The Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
