Irish Hospice Foundation encourage and support collaborative bereavement development at a local level through their Local Bereavement Development Grant scheme. These grants are awarded annually to groups of 6 or more organisations providing bereavement support (e.g. information, peer support to counselling) and all operating within the same geographical region (e.g. county).

Local Bereavement Development Grants Recipients 2021
Three grants were awarded in 2021 which funded three collaborative projects that took place in 2022. Grants were awarded to the Kildare, South Dublin and North Dublin Bereavement Networks. Funded activities included bereavement information events for the public, bereavement information webinars for non-bereavement professionals and training for those working as a bereavement service provider. Some of the activities involved local collaborations with libraries and Family Resource Centres. Outlined below are some of the resulting collaborative projects.
- Kildare: Kildare Friendly Libraries Project.
- South Dublin: A Compassionate Community approach in Bereavement. A Family Resource Centre collaboration
- North Dublin: Grief informed and trauma informed bereavement care. Training for network members.
