Lunch & Learn: Experiencing Grief as a Volunteer

An image promoting a webinar called "Lunch and Learn: Experiencing Grief as a Volunteer," on May 22 at 1:00 p.m. This webinar is hosted by Irish Hospice Foundation's Grief in the Workplace programme.

At Irish Hospice Foundation, we recognise that volunteers can sometimes encounter grief as part of their work. As part of National Volunteers Week, we’re hosting this webinar for volunteers to thank and support all their brilliant and hard work in our workplaces and communities.

Title: Lunch & Learn: Experiencing Grief as a Volunteer
Date/Time: Wednesday, May 22 at 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Location: Online via Zoom

Depending on the nature of a volunteer’s role, they may be supporting or working with those who are experiencing grief or supporting service users who are sick and may die. As a result, volunteers themselves can experience grief, arising from the work they do in caring for others, which is sometimes referred to as ‘Professional Grief’.

This webinar will provide volunteers with an overview of the grieving experience, including the impact of personal and professional loss. It will also provide volunteers with some tips on coping with loss as part of their work.

On completion of this webinar, you will:

  • Recognise the ways in which grief can impact you as a volunteer.
  • Reflect on the grieving experience in terms of personal and professional loss.
  • Identify ways of coping with grief as part of your work.

To join this webinar, please register on Zoom.
